One of the problems in the early phases of starting a business at home is the need to constantly accomplish activities that, for a good number of us, are tedious and repetitive. This is a problem that I commonly run into with my internet marketing coaching clients.
So, here are 5 ideas to help make these initial days less burdensome:
1. Know Why You Are Doing This
If you are sure of what you want to accomplish from developing a business, versus a job, you can remind yourself of your reasons whenever the going gets hard. The more exact you can be the better. Do not just declare I want to get rich. Get clear about exactly how much you want to produce on an yearly basis and then spend a while considering the reason why you picked that precise amount.
Pay specific attention to precisely what you are wanting to establish in the future which you could do/have in some manner immediately. Then do not hold off. Do it right now.
2. Do not Keep Giving Yourself Unhelpful Messages
Do not persist in telling yourself how "dull" you find it - or whatever your particular moan is. Don't gossip about it, either to other folks or in your head. Just take care of it.
The human brain is a magnificent biocomputer. It feeds us energy when we send it something inspiring and it slows us up when we feed it something pessimistic or depressing.
The key bit to be aware of is that we're the ones who are sending the ideas to the computer. Life doesn't feed the brain anything. We do, by the way we decipher what life offers and the tale we tell ourselves in relation to it. As an example we could say "These activities are dull and monotonous and I do not want to do them" or we could say "This course of action is a needed step along the way that is bringing me closer to what I would like and it will not be like this forever". Each are interpretations and tales. However, one gives us energy and enthusiasm and the other irritation and low energy. Mastering a success mindset is one of the most useful internal motivation techniques you can learn.
3. Break Up Your Projects Into Manageable Chunks
Do not work on any activity for more than 3 1/4s of an hour. And divide up the projects with something different that requires you to shift your body and get away from the workstation.
4. Celebrate Your Successes
Instead of focussing on what is still outstanding record what you have carried out. For instance, in my online marketing work, I have found it to be motivating to put a chart on my office wall that I fill in every time I write a new piece of content. Also, I have one that represents the total articles submitted. Observing the totals multiply shows me that I'm achieving something, even if the anticipated goals of my work, in terms of visitor numbers, rankings etc. have yet to be delivered, and this makes me stay enthusiastic.
5. Take on Something New
Whilst your daily businesss is still at the phase of dull and repetitive it's worth making the time to study something new. This might or might not be related to work. But, DO NOT do this, until you've finished your critical work tasks.
Research demonstrates that the brain actually increases physical capacity (much like the way an exercised limb increases power) when you learn something new. It does not simply increase the info, it adds "learning strength" by way of dendrite growth in the physical brain that can actually be measured.
When you take up a new language, or a musical instrument, by way of example, your brain actually gets cleverer and more effective at resolving challenges. Hence keep your brain healthy by balancing out the tedium with something innovative and stimulating.
No matter what you pick to do, there is no avoiding the requirement to acquire discipline and keep on repeating the vital activities each day, if you choose to make a success of your home based business. I hope the 5 ideas above will make your efforts a bit less demanding so, before you know it, you will be able to outsource this stuff and spend greater time on the stuff which are the most inspiring for you.
