Swift was the BEST camp i have ever attended! the staff was carring, the whole camp was maintained perfectly and every cabin participated in frequent and awesome activities. They pay attention to table manners and make them fun. SNC has changed me as a person inside and out. with a limit of around 2 or 3 candies a week, it was a very healthe 2 weeks. I wait eagerly for the summer so that I can attend once again.
The Swift Nature Camp offers kids an opportunity to mature and be on their own while having the support and help from the staff. He is better organized at home and in school. He is going to the Swift Nature Camp this summer again. http://www.swiftnaturecamp.com/science-atcamp.htm Animal Camp
Since it was going to be the first time my daughter was away from home, I did alot of research on away camps. I did not know anyone who had sent their son/daughter to away camp, so I had to rely solely on my research, visit to the facilities, and gut instinct. At the end of camp, after I picked my daughter up, I knew I had made the right decision with Swift Nature Camp. She had nothing but memorable experiences to share on the way home; I knew the camp had made a positive impact on her life. This is a great experience for those who love the outdoors, or for those who have not had enough exposure to the outdoors and need more.

How we clothe our children began to change in the twentieth century for both baby boy clothes and baby girl clothes. Only at that time did childhood come to be regarded as important in its own right and in turn, baby clothes styles changed too.
Prior to the twentieth century, children were forced to grow up a lot faster. For example, until the last part of the eighteenth century the age of starting a job was as low as five for some unfortunates in the lower classes. Clothing for children was simply a smaller version of adult styles.
These copies of parent’s clothes were very restrictive and reflected the fact that childhood was not seen as a special time but a precursor to adulthood. During these eras play was not encouraged as it was seen as a waste of time therefore play clothes were not needed.
For centuries before, the use of swaddling to restrict newborn baby movement and to promote correct posture had been used. Often this was applied for the first year of a baby’s life so no other clothes were required. The habit has reduce enormously in Western cultures but it is still practiced extensively in some Eastern societies.
Long gowns began to be used for newborn boys and girls by the end of the eighteenth century, also acting as foot warmers because they were so long. As baby learned to walk the gown reduced to ankle length.
As children grew older and became toddlers, girls and boys alike graduated to clothing that was a copy of their mother’s dress. For centuries the coloring of fabrics used for these clothes was dark (green or brown for example) so that dirt wasn’t so obvious - the frequency of washing clothes was a lot lower in those days! However, the ruling elite flaunted their position in society by choosing more colorful material and more decorative styles.
By the end of the nineteenth century the fashion of dressing girls and boys alike until the age of four or five was beginning to change and by the end of World War One had virtually disappeared. This was due in a large part to the introduction of the romper suit. This one piece suit was thought to have originated in France and to a large extent revolutionized baby boy clothes.
The romper suit was originally worn by preschool children and is thought to be the first playsuit. This was a dramatic change for baby boys and truly now the sexes could be differentiated. The original romper suits were knee length and had long sleeves. They were worn with long stockings and toddlers would wear boots with them. Although usually one piece, more formal ones were often made in two pieces and from velvet.
Starting with the 1920s the romper suit itself began to evolve with the result that baby boy clothes had more color, variety and decoration than ever before. Romper suit legs reduced in length, short white socks replaced long stockings and more modern shoe styles were introduced instead of boots. Lace collars, smocking, frills and colored fabrics were part of the evolution.
Many years on, we have seen yet another development so that the trend now is to abandon romper suits in favor of miniature versions of adult clothes. For both babies and children, the approach from a century or more ago is alive today and parents dress their offspring in, for example, small khaki pants, polo shirts and so on. Thankfully the use of dull boring colors has not been reintroduced - and even more thankfully we have retained the attitude that childhood is important, especially a time of play to promote development.
Are you looking to conceive a boy so that you have someone to teach football or baseball to? Or do you want to conceive a boy for the sake of your husband then the suggestions that we offer below may well come in useful to you and should be kept in mind.
The X and Y chromosomes are the two sex cells that every man has in his body. So, naturally if you want to conceive a boy it is the Y chromosome that you will want to fertilize the egg. Doesn’t this sound simple? Yes, but there are some factors which can have an effect on the outcome you want.
The Y chromosome is a fast little swimmer. So if you consider that these little buggers swim fast, these are usually the ones that will reach the egg first. However, there is another thing to consider and these sperm are not able to survive for long in an acidic Ph of a woman?s vagina.
Many couples trying to make a bay will arrange to have sex over a number of days in the hope that on one of these days they can create the little boy that both their hearts die. I guess there is nothing wrong with using this method as long as the couples are not too bothered about what their baby is going to be. Also what they need to understand is the sperm is going to released several days before the woman ovulates and so those are carrying the Y chromosome will be weak and will probably die before the egg has even been released.
If you want to conceive a boy, a man is going to have to try his hardest to ensure that their sperm is released on the same day that the woman ovulates. You can now buy an ovulation prediction kit to help you with this. The most accurate of these kits is the ones that you use by testing your saliva. This is extremely important because if you are off just by a day or two, then you are most likely to have a girl.
Before conceiving, it is vital that you should also know the Ph of your vagina. If you happen to have an acidic vagina, as this is not conducive to male sperm. In order to conceive a little boy, the woman?s vaginal tract needs to contain more alkaline. You can change the acidity of your vagina by douching and/or through eating and avoiding certain foods. These douches can be easily made at home so you will be able to save yourself a lot of money.
Another thing that needs to be considered is the sexual intercourse position. To conceive a little boy then the couple need to select an intercourse position which will result in the sperm being much closer to the woman’s cervix. Also this often means the level of penetration for both is much deeper. Plus to further improve a couple’s chances of having a son the woman needs to try and not orgasm as they make love. I am sure that once the woman has delivered her baby, in the end she will not be bothered whether she has conceive a boy or a girl as long as they are healthy and they have all their fingers and toes.
Think about this - you no longer need to worry about buying cumbersome maps or stopping for directions. The GPS system helps you keep on the right road all the way to your destination. You also will not have to worry about being part of the nightly news as a focus of a search in the wilderness. With a GPS system you can keep your bearings if you are ever lost while on a camping trip. Fishermen now use GPS to keep track of underwater topography and avoid shallow water or rocky outcroppings that are hidden below the surface. Most important of all, children are kept safer now that parents have the means to track their whereabouts.
The most used GPS system is the Car GPS device. This is a fantastic device that will calculate the route from wherever your present position is, to the desired end point. All you will need to know is the address, or place name if its a stadium or other point of interest. After this information is loaded into the device, it will perform course calculations and graphically display directions to your destination. If you need to deviate from the planned course, for a rest stop or restaurant, the GPS device will quickly recalculate the new coordinates and map out a revised route. Another nice option on some of the newer models is the ability to hear voice commands. The voice feature allwos drivers to remain focused on the road in order to minimize accidents.
Car GPS systems are used most extensively by consumers. Simply put the target address into the system and you get detailed directions from your current location to the destination. This beats having to plot the route out on your map. It comes in handy when you accidentally make wrong turns or have an unscheduled pit stop off your route. The GPS system will quickly recalculate a route to the desired location. This is immensely easy on drivers and they no longer have to deal with pulling the map out again and re-plotting their route. It is all done in seconds. Additionally, many GPS systems have a voice feature that gives audio instructions so that you may keep your eyes on the road. These GPS systems can also be incorporated in vehicles to show the nearest gas stations when the fuel level is low. They also can be programmed to show places of interest such as restaurants.
Parents want to keep track of their children and GPS for children is a boon to them. GPS navigation allows parents the peace of mind to know that if their child is ever lost they can find them. Simply by placing a small GPS locator device on the child will allow the parent to use GPS tracking to find them if they are ever missing.
GPS for kids is another aspect of GPS navigation. GPS tracking can be used to keep tabs on your children as they play outside. If one child wanders off and is lost, you can quickly track them using GPS for children. If your child is older and is using the family car, a car GPS tracking system can be used to display where the vehicle has been driven.
If you want to reduce your stress level on that long sales drive or simply want to keep your children safe from harm, getting a GPS system is a no brainer. Simply go online and search for the models and manufacturers so you can compare them side by side and get the best deals. The three names you will hear alot are Garmin, Magellan and Tom Tom. These are the ones with the biggest marketshare and will generally not steer you wrong. Between the three, there is a GPS system that is perfect for you.
It is always interesting recalling events in our past because these jog the memories of people of the great times they received in their lives. To save great memories and experiences, increasing numbers of parents get their children to create their own scrapbooks at at an early period so they can keep their youthful memories in a semblence of order. Indeed, scrap booking is just about the most effective and pleasant ways of keeping memories safe and fun to look at. By gathering and saving bits and pieces of memories together, anyone can make, and tell a tale, so for children, scrap booking can be another learning experience because this can instruct them the value of resourcefulness, creative thinking, forbearance, and tenacity.
Scrap booking is pleasurable activity you can share with your kids and one of those pursuits they can participate in with their playmates and friends. Still, before you get emotional and start to teach your children the pleasure of scrapbooking, there are some matters you need to think about. The initial thing is to encourage your children to get into scrapbooking, is their involvement in the craft. So, if your child is one of those who are into fine arts and into collecting mementos to create another work of art, then she or he is the exact prospect for the pursuit because they have the driving force.
If your kid is not yet interested with arts and crafts, it doesn’t mean they cannot indulge in scrap booking because in fact, this is the ideal time to present the to a new area of stimulating and pleasurable activity. Aside from the involvement of your child in crafts and arts, another thing you need to consider is the accessibility of space where your kids can carry out the pursuit. As scrapbooking requires a lot of materials, you will need a space large enough for them to sprawl and to scatter the materials they will use. It is advisable you provide a space where kids can carry it out and a site where they can store their stuff.
Next, you need to consider the quantity of stuff your kid will want and since you are about to instruct them elementary scrap booking, you will require stuff which you can find about your home. Your kids will require paper or scrapbook paper, normally 12 inches by 12 inches in size, pens and colored pencils and photos. Tools such as punchers, scissors, trimmers and rulers, stamps - rubber, clear and foam, adhesives and removers, in addition old cards will also be helpful but this list only holds the fundamentals of what they can utilize because nearly anything can be utilized in producing a scrapbook.
Price economizing are essential for those adults who wish to teach their children scrap booking but don’t have the means to buy costly supplies and materials. So, if you are working to a budget, amass seasoned photographs and let your kids trash the photos you no longer require and whenever you go to the developing center, ask for the multiple photographic prints and let your kids play around with the duplicates.
Then after finishing a specific project, make certain that you put the leftovers and unwanted scraps in a box so the kids can use it for another project. Don’t forget to go over your old stuff and bring out the supplies you will no longer use but direct your kids in producing scrapbooks, so they will not consume supplies, time and effort in creating projects they cannot use.
Recent natural disasters, home mortgage crises, stock market volatility and credit constriction are proving to be tremendously difficult for some of the most at-risk members of our society. New parents, particularly pregnant and postnatal women, feel naturally compelled to create a stable home environment for their babies. Rapidly fluctuating hormone levels and brain chemistry only elevate their increased stress levels.
Parental stress levels directly impact the stress levels of the sensitive young minds of babies and children. New mothers and fathers who find themselves overloaded and unprepared for the challenges that face them need practical ways to cope with the instability that can make the creation of a stable home life impossible. Here are some ways to help both parent and child:
1. Focus on one small step at a time. When disaster strikes, it is all too easy to spiral down into an unmanageable sense of doom. There may be a long list of problems to deal with, but you need to focus on the present. Are you and your baby or child safe for this day? If so, allow yourself to feel grateful, if only for the briefest moment. If you are not, ask yoursef what needs to happen to get you and your family into a safe space. Then, follow through.
2. Allow Yourself to Be Honest. You may need to temporarily suppress some emotions for the sake of being able to move forward in the world, but ignoring your feelings completely can be dangerous. Give yourself permission to feel whatever is going on inside. Do an internal check. Are you mad, glad, sad, scared or some combination of these?
3. Connect. You are not alone. Connecting with other people and sharing your story can help you feel sane again and bring comfort to everyone involved. If you can do this face-to-face, great. If not, go online and find support groups to connect with there. Quality matters more than quantity. Connecting with just one person or group of people who can be present and supportive can do a world of good.
4. Nurture Your Senses. What do you love? Sights, smells, sounds, tastes and touch all have the capacity to nurture our spirits. At a time when indulgences may seem impossible, you can nourish yourself by paying attention to the smallest treats. Ask yourself what you love to taste, touch, smell, see and hear. Think of ways to do two or more at a time and really focus on them. Some of the best ones are completely free. Really tasting a meal, noticing the colors in the world around you, feeling the warmth of your child’s skin, hearing the sound of a loved one’s voice can sustain you through some of the most difficult times. Strive to indulge each of your senses in some small way each day.
5. Cover the Basics. Sleep, eat, drink water, and breathe. It may not seem like much, but accomplishing these basics will give you strength and help you through to easier times.
6. Let People Know What You Need. This is no time to try to survive on your own. The best way to increase the odds of getting the resources you and your family need is to ask for help. You would undoubtedly help someone else in any way you could, so give others a chance to help you. Check inside and as yourself if you require food, a safe place to sleep, someone to talk to, information or other resources. Then put your pride on the sideline and let people know what would make a difference in your life.
While the first six months of the year carry many pastel-colored flowers, beginning July, bright colors become the most common. Summer brings more joy and color into the picture and fall follows summer with intensity and power.
Julys birthday flower, the larkspur”or sometimes called the delphinium”denotes the sensitivity of an open heart and portrays strong bonds and attachments of the soul. The name delphinium coincides with its many dolphin-shaped flowers that are attached to the long, upright stem. The color of the flower can vary between red, yellow, purple, blue, or white, and each flower has five petals. The five petals meet and join together to form a concave flower with a spur at the end, hence the name larkspur. Larkspurs convey a lighthearted emotion and a feeling of levity.
The gladiola gives those born in the month of August a title of courageous and brave. The Latin word gladius is the direct translation for the word sword, and the gladiolas sword-shaped stems are a visual representation for that. Symbolically, the gladiola represents moral integrity and strength. An extended meaning for the gladiola makes reference to its sword-shaped stems and its ability to emotionally pierce the heart with its stunning beauty and grace; infatuation is one of the feelings that this unique flower depicts.
Septembers aster is lush, rich, and exerts wild and unconventional beauty. Asters have strong association in the mythical world with magical powers and supernatural abilities. A long, long time ago it was believed that when aster leaves were burned, their fragrance would drive away any sort of evil. Now, this flourishing flower signifies abundant love and profuse elegance.
The essence of autumn is captured in Octobers birthday flower, the marigold, which was once called Marys Gold by Christians. The marigold contains rich and intense colors that are bold and daring; brilliance and luminosity are characteristic of its breathtaking blossom. Marigolds are symbolic of affection, fondness, refinement, and grace.
November brings quite an interesting and unusual flower like the chrysanthemum, which is a symbol for the sun. Long ago, chrysanthemums are said to have held high positions in ancient cultures. The Japanese culture associates chrysanthemums with utmost perfection, and today, these flowers are linked to a long and healthy life. Chrysanthemums literally stand for optimism, hopefulness, and cheerfulness.
December is filled with good tidings and joy; the poinsettia is the perfect flower to portray the seasons greetings and good cheer. Known as the Christmas flower, the poinsettia is deep but bright red, and its petals are long and beautiful. Legend has it that poinsettias began as little weeds, but, when a humble, little girl placed these weeds on the church alter, they transformed into beautiful poinsettias! They began to bloom and exert a brilliant shade of red and carried charm and grace. This Christmas flower is the perfect symbol for merriment and joy during the holidays.
From January to December, flowers are great representations of feelings, emotions, and characteristics that can bring a special touch to your special baby shower!
Diaper bags hold diapers. Sure they house many other accessories - but their main function is stated by their name. And a new generation of parents now have a new set of diaper choices. Environmental concerns have led more companies to design better diapers that reduce waste and provide healthier alternatives. The variety of diaper styles now basically revolve around three categories. Cloth diapers with new cloth diaper versions are one type. The old plastic disposables are a second type. And a third style are the new hybrids which combine an outer layer which is permanent along with a disposable inner layer.
I read a statistic recently that stated over 1% of all trash in landfills is disposable diapers. Is that something or what? Here are some other interesting facts to note: Over 27 BILLION disposables are used just in the US alone per year. According to Wikipedia, that translates to a possible 3.4 million tons of used diapers that go into landfills every year. Hmm. That’s not a pretty thought now is it.
Disposable diapers are often required in a daycare setting. Some institutions are concerned about a cloth diaper leaking. Though this could also happen with a standard plastic diaper as well. The convenience of just throwing away a dirty diaper without worrying about washing and drying is why they’ve become so popular. But it does come at a price, like many things in our throw-away society. It’s an individual choice parents must make.
Plastic diapers typically have the best grades for absorbing wetness. But then again, if you’re changing cloth diapers regularly, you won’t have the child in a wet diaper for long anyway. As discussed, the other drawback from an environmental perspective is that a lot more detergent will be used. And thus more chemical waste into the environment. The cost factors for cloth and plastic are debatable but are roughly the same. It really depends on the individual situation.
Cloth diapers are more modern now with no pins and no soaking typically needed. If you’re interested in going fully natural with traditional cloth diapers, be sure to know about all your options. There are many different strategies to help keep them clean on a regular basis which you can research. This includes ways that can minimize your laundry time and still keep diapering efficient for you and the baby. They are also a “hybrid” type of cloth diapers with inserts as well.
Hybrid diapers come in a multitude of options as well. Companies like g diaper provide inner layer inserts which can be thrown away. They have a reusable outer layer which is secure and keeps leaks at bay as well. Other companies use various microfiber which can be washed. Seventh Generation has a diaper which is a throw away. However, it it marketed as having significantly less toxins and reduces waste. This is still a disposable diaper, but you’re getting some reduction in environmental waste. Not the optimum green choice, but still perhaps better than the stock plastic diaper.
Choices are plentiful now for those parents who want to think a bit more about what is going into and out of their diaper bags. The standard plastic diapers may seem the most convenient up front. But this is in fact most often the most costly choice over time. Both in terms of thinking about the landfill use and space, and for the cost of the diapers themselves.
Barbie has been one of the most popular dolls and for almost fifty years has been a part of every girls wish list for Christmas or other special occasions. She has also been one of the best seller toys online and one of the hottest collectible toys.
According to Mattel, manufacturer of Barbie, there are already more than 100,000 Barbie collectors around the world. Roughly ninety percent are women in their early 40s, buying around twenty Barbie dolls and spending $1000 or more every year.
At auction, vintage Barbie dolls from earliest production are the most successful. In 1959, original Barbie was sold for $3.00. In 2004, Barbie in mint box from 1959 was sold for around $3552. And in 2006, a Midnight Red Barbie doll from 1965 was sold for $17,000, which actually set a world record.
Looking back, Mattel has sold a lot of Barbie dolls particularly to collectors. Barbie dolls sold included vintage reproductions, dolls based from characters in television series like Star Trek and The Munsters, and porcelain versions.
Barbie dolls in various ethnic identities were also sold and became great collectors items. Barbie dolls ranging through gold, pink, silver, and platinum were also sold due of course for the effort of Mattel in introducing the Color Tier system for its collectors edition.
Aside from Barbie, companions created by Mattel for her were also successfully sold to collectors. These include African American Christie, Steven (boyfriend of Christie), Midge, and Hispanic Teresa. Dolls created to become her siblings and cousins also appeared to be very appealing to collectors. These include Francie, Todd (twin brother of Tutti and Stacie), Stacie (twin sister of Todd), Tutti (twin sister of Todd), Jazzie, Krissy, Skipper, and Kelly.
This year, Mattel celebrates Barbie’s continued success for 50 years. Barbie was actually launched March of 1959.
As Barbie celebrates her 50th anniversary this year, collectors also celebrate as Mattel released new reproduction of 1959 Barbie doll, the original. Many collectors were filled with joy with Mattel’s decision about the 1959 Barbie doll. And in the coming years, they are expecting that Mattel will release new productions of some other well-loved Barbie dolls for them to joy.
Your suspicion of the Japanese connection would be confirmed as the word “anime” and the symptoms that your kids are acting like the characters they see on TV meet. Started in 2007 as a TV anime series (which is popular in Japan) it was a Canadian Network that first brought the series into the worldwide scene.
The popularity of the show has led to the expansion of its media appeal and the merchandise and Bakugan Toys are the representations of such. So, planning on buying that Bakugan Battle Brawler Toys and spending quality time with your kids? Then let me help you through knowing the characters your kids love to talk about.
The most popular character in the series, Dan is a boy who loves playing Bakugan and gets frustrated easily but his greatest ambition, which is an irony, is to be the number one battle brawler in the entire world. Runo Misaki represents the girl audience with a vengeance. Runo is a tomboy who loves playing Bakugan with people that have skills to battle off. She has a crush on Dan but never admits it. Dan and Runo often argue with each other but secretly they are in love with each other.
Shun Kazami is a master of Bakugan and is Dan’s childhood friend. He approaches Bakugan like a ninja and lives with his grandfather (who used to be a famous ninja warrior) who once expected him to follow in his footsteps instead of playing Bakugan. Marucho Marukuro on the other hand is a wealthy boy who is very generous and smart. He loves to play Bakugan where he works best on strategic approach.
Masquerade used to be the first-ranked Bakugan player before he left Alice’s body. His goal is to send all Bakugan to the Doom Dimension with his Doom Card, so he can evolve his Hydranoid and have the ultimate Bakugan. Joe Brown lived in a hospital. There was a time when the Brawlers used to think he was working for the bad guy Masquerade, but he actually is a good guy and sent the message to the Brawlers that warn them that Masquerade was on the loose and plotting against them.
