"Why be a vegetarian?": this is one question that new vegetarians are asked over and over again. In as much as people are not familiar with the wealth of delicious food available to vegetarians, they are simply at a loss about the reason for taking meat out of your diet.

When asked "why be a vegetarian?", the question can feel like an attack but most people are just curious about the decision. Many vegetarians are caught off guard and feel compelled to defend their lifestyle.

Meat is Very Inexpensive and Tasty, So Why be a Vegetarian When it is So Expensive?

It requires a lot of effort and thought, is one of the arguments made against vegetarianism. It is a common misconception that vegetarians put more effort on their diet than meat eaters, but vegetarians are only more careful with their diet and stick to it diligently so as to maintain balanced nutrition.

A common misconception about vegetarianism is that it's more expensive to eat foods to take the place of meats. While it's true that pre-made packaged meat substitutes can be quite expensive, vegetarian food can be found in bulk for very little money. Vegetarian staples like rice, oats, beans, and pasta are very inexpensive.

The cost is a little higher when you factor in fresh fruits and vegetables, however it is commonly accepted that we could all benefit from more fruits and vegetables in our diets. Vegetarians typically do not consume much more in the way of fruits and vegetables than the recommended amounts for the general, meat eating, public.

When you take into account the fact that meat takes many times the amount of resources to produce that crops do, you'll see that plant foods are actually less expensive to produce. The artificially low prices of meat in the supermarket and in restaurants are the result of government subsidies that provide farmers with payments to encourage them to produce meat.

Why Become a Vegetarian When Humans Were Designed to Eat Meat?

While many meat eaters make the argument that humans weren't made to live without meat in their diets, there is actually plenty of biological evidence to the contrary. Our bodies more closely resemble the physiology of herbivores than carnivores: our digestive system shows that our optimal food is plant matter, not meat.

Many health related problems are caused by eating meat long-term, even though the human body is capable of digesting meat. Diseases directly related to eating meat are high cholesterol, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and osteoporosis. The typical American eats so much meat that it poisons their bodies, although the infrequent consumption of meat doesn't seem to significantly raise the risk the previously mentioned health problems. The evidence supports the claim that we are not meant to be meat eaters.

Why Become a Vegetarian? Why Can't You Become One?

There are even more reasons to be vegetarian, but the most compelling reason is the one that resonates with you personally. Being a vegetarian means that you are removing your support from an industry that produces more waste than all other American industries combined. You are standing up in favor of a healthy life and healthy planet, and you are doing a good turn for animal rights. Being a vegetarian comes with many, many benefits for your physical, emotional, and financial well-being - and no detrimental effects to any of these.

The popularity of acoustic guitars over electric is largely due to the mystique and romance associated with them. The soft strumming of acoustic guitar can cause people to stop what they are doing and just listen to the beautiful music. But, the acoustic guitar is not just for mellow music; for instance, it brings fiery passion to flamenco music. Though people do not often think or talk about the versatility of an acoustic guitar, nearly everyone appreciates the beautiful sounds it is capable of producing.

Many people, even those with no musical ability, daydream about playing the acoustic guitar. Just seeing one in a shop makes you want to try to play it, even if you dont know how,, just to hear the tones. Maybe you've even wondered about how much it would cost to learn.

Think about your family and friends, and the looks on their faces as you bring your guitar out, and display to them your newly acquired skill. As you put the guitar back in the case, do you ever think to yourself how great it would be if you only had time in your schedule to learn.

Even though it may seem that acoustic guitars are magical, that's not really the case. The music produced is the magic, not the guitar. This is the same as when you were young and learning to use a pencil. After a time you learned to write very well and you soon were able to write essays, book reports and all sorts of things. Your pencil was merely the tool used to create your writing. This is what its like with an acoustic guitar. The guitar is the tool that makes your music. Learning the guitar evolves in the same way. When youre in the music store you play around with a guitar, just as you scribbled with your pencil. You hear what happens each time you move your hands a certain way. When you start to learn to play an acoustic guitar you begin to feel at ease and soon your fingers begin to move correctly on their own. After a while the guitar becomes an extension of your hands and your thoughts begin to flow through it naturally.

To one who has never played the acoustic guitar it can be very intimidating even though it is a very compelling instrument. The music produced on a guitar can almost seem larger than life. It seems incredible that anyone could produce such amazing sounds from such a simple instrument.

Some people may feel nervous with an acoustic guitar and treat it like fragile glass. So much so, that they forget an acoustic guitar is meant to be played. The music resides within you and is only heard when you actually play the guitar.

Whether you frequently check out the acoustic guitars in the music store just to get the feel of it, or if you have got one standing silent in the corner, take the time to learn. You will always be proud that you've spent time mastering the instrument.

Digital camera technology moves forward so quickly these days that it often alienates its potential customers. After spending sizable amount of time at the mall and online research you finally figured out which is the best digital camera for you. Once the search is over it is time to gather up your savings for the camera of your dreams; that brand new 10 mega-pixel, 10 times optical zoom camera with a two and a half inch screen. Can you imagine your surprise when you find that the camera you have researched so diligently and have set your heart on has been usurped from its position of best model with a newer more expensive version.

Just when you thought you had it all worked out you have to reassess your needs knowing that you won't be happy unless you have this new 'best digital camera' model instead. The best digital camera is now going to cost you considerably more and being new there aren't any discounts to be had. Before you rush off and buy your digital camera, there are a few tips I can pass on about buying one. First off try and search out a model with a higher number of pixels, referred to as mega-pixels; you ideally need over 5 although with today's cameras it would be hard to find one under that anyway.

Although it is not always the case, a good rule of thumb is the more pixels you have the better the image will be when it is printed. Color depth and the ability to enlarge the image sometimes up to and beyond poster size are the two main reasons for higher megapixel cameras. Good quality models are now using large LCD screens around the 2.5 inches area which is great for viewing them afterwards and for framing the shots perfectly. Making adjustments to the photo you have just taken is just one of the many functions now incorporated into good digital cameras helped by having a big LCD screen.

The only downside to this great feature is it uses more battery power so always keep a fresh set with you at all times if you don't want to be caught out. More and more digital cameras are coming equipped with an optical zoom and this is the sort to try for even if it is only a three times power. However, the lower price range cameras rarely come with an optical zoom and where fitted, optical zooms range between 3x to 12x power. Images on these cameras are stored on small storage cards that can have a huge memory capacity but be sure to buy the right type.

Although there is quite a range of storage cards available. It normally boils down to one of four types: the newer XD cards from Olympus and Fuji, the SD, card, Sony's Memory Stick and the old but reliable Compact Flash. Try to obtain the largest memory you can for your camera and your budget. Prices for the large gigabyte cards now are almost the same price as one that was only 64mb only 2 or 3 years ago. After all is said and done, the best digital camera you choose should match your lifestyle as much as it should your pocket. If you enjoy taking shots with your new toy and use it regularly then that is all you can ask from a camera isn't it?

On many hiking trails, hikers need not worry about getting lost because the trails are often marked with clear signs giving short explanations or story lines. Hikers wishing to journey longer hiking trails should be in good shape and have orienteering skills, as these can be quite a bit more challenging than day trip trails. On longer trails campfire sites are often far apart.

Hiking trails are pretty much a no-brainer public asset, a win-win for those who live among ever-increasing development, traffic and growth. Unfortunately, Forest Service and Park Service budgets are often strapped and have steadily declined over the past decade. With the help of groups like WTA, public lands agencies have gotten used to the tightening belt, using a combination of volunteer labor, user fees, grant funding and other magic tricks.

On remote trails, mountain bikers are requested to use caution, watch for all types of wildlife, as even mountain lions are sometimes seen. Stay standing and if you fall down try to get back on your feet. Avoid riding after rainfall when the trails are muddy so as to reduce trail erosion.

Forest Service have created an mapping tool which identifies which maps to purchase for recreational activities across eleven of the U.S. National access to recreation permits and other useful information is also available. Occasionally some provincial park and forest service management features, including campgrounds, may be privatized or transferred to municipalities and regional districts, but these changes usually will not affect the trails and routes.

Hiking trails that lead to a rocky bluff are often rewarded with fantastic views of mature forests, sparkling spring-fed rivers and rolling countryside. Each season offers a changing landscape and new wonders to explore, whether it's the chattering of birds and new growth in the spring, the rustle of leaves swirling to the ground in autumn or the crisp air of the quiet woods after a fresh snow.

Visitors to Konza Prairie are allowed on the hiking trails from dawn to dusk, weather and trail conditions permitting. Konza Prairie's hiking trails are a destination for thousands of visitors each year, especially during the peak wildflower seasons of June and September.

Sometimes the best way to make major improvements to your home is via a home refinancing loan. It is during those times that you want to make sure that you are getting the best deal possible.

The Internet has changed the financial world as so much can be done online now including finding the best deals around without leaving your home. The other benefit of the Internet is that any research and quotes can be gathered anonymously which is a luxury that people in the market for home refinancing loans in the past did not have.

Everyone knows that often when you give up your personal information to a potential lender they are likely to continue contacting you until you are frustrated and being able to do your initial research online eliminates this. Of course being able to source a large number of lenders and compare their refinancing deals without leaving your home has got to be the biggest benefit of all.

The homeowner is in control, deciding when they want to search and as they do not have a mortgage broker trying to convince them to use a particular plan it is easier to find the one that suits best. This control over your own finances was predicted by financial experts some time ago and has changed the way financial arrangements are now carried out.

One of most common complaints from homeowners in the past was how often they went away from the lender having questions that remained unanswered. Of course with all the information available on the Internet, questions can be easily answered so the homeowner is in a much more commanding position when arranging a home refinancing loan.

The other aspect to arranging a loan like this is almost the whole process can be carried out online including the refinancing application. As our lives get busier, we seem to have less time to see people personally and carry out this type of task face to face which was commonplace not that many years ago.

Often the homeowner will just download the forms and print them off to be completed at their leisure only then seeing the mortgage lender when the agreement requires finalizing. In some cases everything can be done over the internet so that the homeowner doesn't have to visit a lender at all, which is in fact, becoming more of the norm for those who turn to the internet for refinancing.

So if you are looking to refinance your home, consider taking on the process online, it may save you time and money.

Research shows that 10 million individuals will become a victim of identity theft this year. Chances are you too will become a victim of identity theft unless you are aware of the ways your identity can be stolen. Once you know how your identity can be stolen, you will be able to defend yourself against becoming a victim. Therefore, your first line of defense is knowing a thief's offense. The following are six ways you your identity can be stolen.

First, your identity can easily be stolen if you have lost or had your wallet stolen. Once a thief has obtained personal information from a driver's license, social security card or other identifying information found in your wallet, they will often open credit card and utility accounts in your name. They will also charge large amounts of merchandise on your credit cards. Thieves will also use your identity when applying for jobs in order to use your background to pass criminal screenings.

Another way your identity can be stolen is by becoming too comfortable with your day to day happenings and let your guard down concerning your paper trail, especially your financial paper trails. Believe it or not, identity theft crimes are more likely to be done by someone you know or who you feel comfortable with. For example, if you employ someone to clean your home, you need to be sure that your personal papers are kept in a secure location within your home. Also, be aware of sales clerks, waiters or cashiers who process your credit cards for you. Untrustworthy clerks can duplicate your credit card receipt or use a special device to capture your data. Be aware of who you perceive to be trustworthy before you allow them access to your home or credit cards.

A third way thieves can access your personal information is by scouring dumpsters or trash cans to get receipts from financial institutions or pre-approved credit card applications. They can use this information to create counterfeit checks or open credit card accounts in your name. Thieves can also steal checks, bank statements and other financial documents straight from your mailbox before you ever know they are missing. It is important to monitor your incoming and outgoing paper mail and shred all financial documents before trashing them.

The fourth way thieves steal your identity is through telephone phishing scams. Pretexters call and pretend to be an employee of a popular company, such as Target, and proceed to tell you that there is a problem with your payment. Who wouldn't be inclined to answer questions regarding financial information if they shop at Target and receive this sort of call? Furthermore, it is crucial that you are careful about what you tell others about yourself when on social websites or employment websites.

The fifth way thieves try to steal your identity is by watching your transactions at ATM machines. You should always be aware of your surroundings when standing at automated teller machines. An experienced thief can see pin number you type in. They may then follow you, wait for a chance to get your ATM receipt, and then have access to your bank account.

The sixth way to have your identity stolen is to fail to put protective measures in place to keep thieves from gaining access to your personal information. It doesn't matter whether you purchase identity theft protection services or put your own steps in place to protect your identity, the fact is, if you are not protected, you will have your identity stolen.

When it comes to knowing how your identity can be stolen, what you don't know can hurt you. Learning the 6 ways your identity can be stolen is the first step in being knowledgeable about protecting your identity. What you choose to do with this knowledge is up to you. If you don't do something regarding your identity, a thief certainly will.

Once you have decided to learn how to play the guitar, you are very likely brimming over with excitement; you have your brand new guitar, some accessories and even some guitar tabs to get you off to a good start. You're excited; at least until you look at those tabs and realize you haven't a clue how to read guitar tabs! Luckily, reading guitar tabs is not terribly difficult. Once you learn how to read guitar tabs, you'll be playing from tabs in no time! They are easier than sheet music and are designed specifically with beginning players in mind.

You will need to understand the layout of the tabs when you are learning how to read guitar tabs, but once you do, you will find them to be very simple to interpret and play from. These are the best form of musical notation for beginners, being designed with the guitar in mind and will have you playing the guitar before you even have time to learn to read sheet music.

Traditional sheet music and guitar tabs share some similarities; but there are many important differences. Guitar tabs, unlike sheet music denote where each note is played by demonstrating the proper placement of your fingers. When you are learning how to read guitar tabs, the first thing you will likely notice is that each tab has six lines as opposed to the five seen in sheet music - these six lines represent the six strings of a guitar. The dots shown on guitar tabs show you where to put your fingers. So you will need to become familiar with the six strings of your guitar before you start reading guitar tabs.

There are six strings on a guitar, E, B, G, D, A, and E again. The first E, is a high E, with the last E being the low. When learning how to read guitar tabs, you will need to know the placement of these strings on the tab itself. The lines go from top to bottom, the higher E will be on top, which is then followed by the B, G, D, A, and lower E on the bottom, in that order.

See those metal lines on the neck of your guitar? Those are the frets and on your tabs, they are indicated by the vertical lines you see there - your fingers are placed in between (not on!) the frets while playing. When you're reading guitar tabs, there will be numbers - these tell you which fret your fingers should be on.

These numbers will be present in your tabs and correspond with frets on your guitar; however, you will also see an occasional zero on the tabs - this means that you should play that string "open". Open means that you will not place your finger on any fret. To briefly explain, if you were to see the number four on the A string in your guitar tab, you would place your finger on the fourth fret of that string.

These numbers correspond to the frets on your guitar, numbered from top to bottom; you will also see when you are learning how to read guitar tabs that there are also zeros on the tabs - this tells you to play that string "open", that is, with no fret being pressed. For example, if the line corresponding to the A string in your guitar tab says 6, then you would place your finger on the 6th fret and so on.

You'll see many other symbols while learning to read guitar tabs, such as X, B, R, H, P, PM, T and /. These symbol each have a different meaning. X means to not play that string, while B denotes that you should bend that note, P is a pull off. The meaning of those other symbols is as follows - H is for a hammer-on, R for release, T means to tap the note, PM indicates a palm mute and a / tells you to slide. As you are learning how to read guitar tabs, you will come to know all of these symbols and to incorporate them into your guitar playing.

The traditional Halloween celebrations come round every October 31st, and these days those who enjoy the festivities the most are the children. Halloween is a time to dress up in fancy dress and take to the streets trick or treating. Some families go to a lot of trouble decorating their homes and front yards in a ghostly and eerie Halloween theme.

Halloween is very old Celtic festival, and has continued through time most strongly in the Celtic communities in Ireland, Scotland and Wales. From there, with emigration, Halloween has spread around the world, most notably to the United States. In later years, the spread of popular American culture has kindled new interest in Halloween to some places for the first time, such as Asia and Western Europe.

The first Celtic customs were pagan festivals linked to the seasonal changes with the onset of winter. The ancients saw it as a time when the living could contact the dead, and magic things could happen. The early Christian church, as with many pagan festivals, absorbed these customs into the Christian calendar. All Saints Day, also known as All Hallows Day, was assigned to November 1st. All Hallows Evening, the night of October 31st, became known as Hallow E'en, later just Halloween, and the time for the ancient celebrations.

Halloween celebrations were a community event, and there was usually a bonfire and fun games. The apple harvest was in at that time, and games such as trying to eat an apple on a string or floating in a bucket of water with your hands behind your back, were customary. Children would go from door to door to gather fruit, nuts and other tidbits for the festivities, which was the origin of the "treating" visits of today. Mostly, particularly in Scotland, the children would sing or put on a short act in return for the treats they were given. These days the treats given are often candies and sweets, and occasionally money.

Early on, Halloween "tricks" were secretive and often clever pranks played on some adults by children. The mischievous spirits that were said to be abroad on Halloween were blamed. This activity was especially popular in Ireland. A long time ago, tricks and treating combined into an ultimatum: give a treat or become the victim of a trick. This undesirable habit led to such unpleasantness as tossing eggs at houses and soaping windows, and more serious vandalism. Nowadays such unruly behavior is not often seen.

Halloween party venues are often decorated with a haunted house theme. To the pleasure of children, Halloween menu items often include tomato soup described as vampire soup, spaghetti renamed as cemetery worms, and the always popular long cookies tipped with sliced almonds and described as witches' fingers. Pumpkins are made into carved jack-o-lanterns, and the pumpkin flesh used for pumpkin dishes, such as the pumpkin pie that is traditionally a feature of Halloween menus.

Over the last few years, the magical themes of the popular Harry Potter books have added fresh fun to costumes and decorations for children's Halloween parties.

Halloween costume parties have also become popular events for adults as well in recent years. They are a great excuse to dress up and have fun. It seems the trend today is for any costume to be acceptable, not necessarily just the traditional witches, vampires and ghosts of Halloween. Costume design inspirations are now drawn from many sources, such as recent movies and television series. Some costumes are just witty, such as the seasonally appropriate theme of a "leaf blower", consisting just of a leaf suspended from the brim of a cap where it can be blown.

Breast cancer is not a dark subject; it encompasses various types according to their area of occurrence and activity. Knowing about all types is necessary for prevention, and even during the course of your treatment, so that you know how to take proper measures and care of yourself.

Breast cancer can either be invasive or non-invasive. Non-invasive breast cancers, also called in situ breast cancers, have a very high survival rate. Cancer cells in non-invasive breast cancers are confined to the site where the cancer originated, and have not spread to other organs. The most common non-invasive breast cancer is Ductal Carcinoma In Situ or DCIS, which develops in the breasts' milk ducts and does not metastasize. The best and easiest treatment for DCIS is mastectomy, and patients are cured fully, most of the times.

Metastasis occurs when the cancer cells do not remain in the site where they initially develop, but spread to other parts of the body and start malignant cell formation there. When this happens, the cancer is called Invasive breast cancer. The two commonest types of invasive breast cancer are Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and Invasive Lobular Carcinoma.

Invasive Ductal Carcinoma accounts for 70% to 80% of all breast cancer cases. Originating in the ducts of the breast, the cancer spreads outside the ductal lining and attacks the breast tissue. There is no certainty if the cancer cells remain confined to the breast or metastasize to other organs. Invasive Lobular Carcinoma, on the other hand, is characterized by cancer cells originating in milk-producing lobules of the breast and then spreading out the same way as in IDC. One typical attribute of ILC is that no distinct lump formation is necessary. The breast usually thickens as a whole.

Breast cancer cells can also originate in blood and lymph vessels of the breast, the breast tissue and the fibrous connective tissue, rather than just the ducts and lobules. These are uncommon types of cancer; however, due to the possible aggressive nature, knowing about them becomes imperative. They include Inflammatory breast cancer, angiosarcoma, osteosarcoma, metaplastic breast cancer, Paget's disease of the breast, and many others. It is also good to remember that sometimes, cancer can spread to the breast when the originating site is some other organ. This is not a type of breast cancer; another form of cancer has just metastasized to the breast.

Even though these types are uncommon, they can be very aggressive, like Inflammatory breast cancer, which develops so rapidly that it can cause a lot of harm within a week. It is important to be well-versed with the symptoms and causes of each of these types.

Doctors usually grade invasive breast cancers. They compare the affected breast tissue with a normal tissue, and grade depending on how much the affected tissue resembles a normal one. This process makes it easier to decide the course and procedures for treatment. Grades start from I to III, Grade I implying the cancer is not very advanced, and Grade III suggesting that the breast tissue has lost its normal functioning ability and that the cancer has progressed highly.

Prevention is always better than cure. If prevention is not possible, make sure you have all the information related to your cancer, that you know every symptom, every treatment possible, and understand all the reports your doctor makes.
